Privacy Policy
ChatShortlist ("we", "us") operates chatshortlist.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.
What we collect
When you join the waitlist. The email address you provide, the website you optionally provide, which form you used, the date and time of submission, and a one-way hash of your IP address. The hash lets us detect automated abuse without retaining your actual IP.
When you create an account. Accounts are handled by Clerk, our authentication provider, which stores your email address and any sign-in credentials or connected accounts you choose to use. We receive an account identifier and your email address from Clerk. We never see your password.
When you run a scan. The URL you submitted, the resulting score, and the account it belongs to. The scan itself fetches the page you named and reads the HTML a crawler would read; we keep the report, not a copy of the site.
We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics scripts. The only cookies this site sets are the session cookies Clerk needs to keep you signed in — there are no marketing cookies, and the marketing pages set none at all.
Why we collect it
To run the scans you ask for, to attribute them to an account so the service cannot be abused anonymously, and — if you joined the waitlist — to email you when monitoring opens and occasionally about changes in AI search. That is the entire purpose. We do not sell, rent or share your information with third parties for their own marketing.
How long we keep it
Until you ask us to delete it, or until you unsubscribe and twelve months pass with no further contact — whichever comes first.
Your choices
Every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also email hello@chatshortlist.com at any time to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. We will action deletion requests within 30 days.
Where your data lives
Signups and scan results are stored on servers we control, and are accessible only to people working on ChatShortlist. We do not transfer the list to an external mailing provider without saying so here first.
Account records are held by Clerk, which acts as our processor for authentication. Deleting your account removes them from Clerk and removes the scans tied to it from our servers.
Sites you scan
A scan is an ordinary read-only web request, identifying itself as ChatShortlistBot. Site owners see it in their logs, as they would any crawler. We do not attempt to access anything that is not publicly served at the URL you gave us, and we do not share which account scanned which site.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If the change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will email you before it takes effect.
